Coaching Staff
Our coaching staff is a family-oriented staff that lives within the Greenfield community. We strive to teach boys and girls to have fun and succeed in the sport of wrestling.
Coach Holden, a former Indiana State Champion for Lawrence Central High School, has been the Head Wrestling Coach at Greenfield Central High School for 17 years and was the Head Coach at Southport High School for one season. In his career, his wrestlers have won 267 duals and two Hoosier Heritage Conference Titles. Coach Holden has been named Hancock County Coach of the Year multiple times, HHC Coach of the year 6 times, and Regional Coach of the year once. He has coached 19 State Qualifiers, 13 State Place Winners, 2 State Runner Ups, and 1 State Champion. Coach Holden is a Silver Certified Coach through USA Wrestling.

Coach Hamant passed away on February 17th, 2021. No other individual has given so much to the G-C Wrestling Program as Ed. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those lucky enough to have called him coach, mentor, and friend.

Coach Hamant served as Junior High Head Coach for 4 Years, High School Volunteer Coach for 2 Years, JV/Freshman Coach for 20 Years, Varsity Assistant Coach for 39 Years , and Varsity Head Coach for 1 year. His accomplishments include a 214-77-6 JV/Freshman Record as head Coach, with a 73% Winning Percentage, 5 Unbeaten Seasons, 60-3 From 1991-1994, and 7 “JV Sectionals” wins. He coached all but 1 State Qualifier and Placer in school history at the Varsity level. As Head Coach he coached 55 State Qualifiers, 27 State Place Winners, 3 State Runner Ups, and 2 State Champions. He was also inducted into the IHSWCA Hall-of-Fame.

Coach Thompson has been involved with Cougar Wrestling since kindergarten. He was a 3X varsity letter winner while at GCHS and was a 2X regional qualifier. In his free time, he likes to draw, workout, and skateboard. Coach Thompson started volunteering during the 2020-2021 season.
